The political bear market in the rest of the world

Scott Sumner makes an argument for a worldwide bear market in politics that people focused solely on the United States are missing.

This is probably true, but the aging of the western world still makes redistributive policy (and therefore politics in general) an increasingly important economic factor to track for the foreseeable future.
